The Best Boutique Hotel in Hoi An for Yogis and Slow Living Lovers
Big chain hotels or polished resorts have never been my thing. When I travel (especially for longer stays!), I want to feel like I’m somewhere with soul. Somewhere that’s been created with intention. A place that feels like home, and has a heart-warming story. That’s exactly what I found at Home Day Retreats in Hoi An.
I came across it while scrolling through Airbnb, and the moment I saw that Huế (the lovely host), was a yoga teacher and advocate of mindful living, something in me knew, before I even arrived, that this was going to be the right space for the chapter I was in.
And from the moment the taxi dropped me off outside and I felt the property’s beautiful energy, saw my room and met the other guests, my initial feelings were immediately confirmed. I’d only planned to stay for six weeks ~ but within days, I extended for another six and ended up living there for three whole months in 2024 and also went back for an additional month in 2025.
That’s how much this place contributed to my entire experience in Hoi An. And why I’d confidently say: if you’re heading to Hoi An, and you value intentional, slow, soulful living ~ this is the place for you.
What Home Day Retreats Feels Like
It’s a small boutique property with just six rooms, but one that feels deeply personal. Everything is beautifully designed yet understated ~ soft lighting, natural tones, woven textures, big windows, and little corners to sit and just be. The rooms are peaceful and minimal, with a grounding sense of simplicity that makes it easy to slow down and sink in.
Whether you’re making food in the shared open-air kitchen, reading by the pool, having tea in the garden, or sharing a quiet hello with another guest ~ everything feels gentle here. I also shared a short video from my stay on Instagram, if you’d like to see this place in motion alongside these words.

The Host: Huế
One of the things that makes this place so special is Huế, the host and founder. She’s a certified yoga teacher, a beautiful soul, and one of those quietly wise people who feels more like a caring friend than a host.
As such, Home Day Retreats was created not as a hotel ~ but as a space for restoration, mindfulness, and stillness in a fast-moving world.
She brought out plenty of insightful conversations during my stay, welcomed guests with open-hearted warmth, and was always there if you needed something ~ without ever being intrusive. There’s a calmness about her that you can feel in the entire space.

Yoga at Om Day
Another huge bonus of staying at Home Day Retreats is the connection to its sister yoga studio, Om Day Yoga (also founded by Huế), just a short walk or bike ride away. It became my go-to space to reconnect and move my body mindfully during these months!
You can get discounted access to classes just by being a guest, and the studio itself is serene, beautifully run and has the most gorgeous views over the rice fields of Hoi An. The teachers are warm, professional, and passionate, offering classes for all levels. Morning or evening, the vibe was always calm and grounding ~ never performative.
Whether you’re a yogi or just enjoy conscious movement, this was such a lovely extension of my stay and helped me keep a beautiful rhythm throughout my time in Hoi An.

How It Shaped My Time in Hoi An
To be honest, I think my entire experience of Hoi An would have been different had I stayed somewhere else.
This little home-away-from-home gave me a sense of grounding that allowed everything else ~ the work, the writing, the daily rituals, the quiet exploration of this Central Vietnamese city ~ to flow more naturally. I met other slow travellers who shared my values. I felt part of something, while still having space to just be. And when you’re travelling solo or staying long-term, that kind of environment really makes a huge difference.
Helpful Tips for Your Stay
1. You can book through Airbnb or booking.com.
3. I created a digital guide of my favourite 33 spots and experiences in Hoi An ~ the local cafés, quiet corners, and hidden gems I discovered over my four-month stay that most tourists never get to see. If you’d love use this as a basis (and skip hours of searching and research), you can download it right here. I hope you have a beautiful trip!
2. I stayed in the Japanese style room which I enjoyed very much but I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them to be honest. Also, it’s a 10–15 minute cycle to Hoi An Old Town (bikes are readily available for guests so you don’t need to rent them separately)
4. Best time to visit: January to April for warm days and cooler evenings (I personally think February and March are the best months in terms of weather and also seeing the rice fields in full beauty.
A little note to end on…
Home Day Retreats wasn’t just a place I stayed ~ it was a big part of why Hoi An felt so special to me. It held me in exactly the way I needed at that time: softly, slowly, gently.
If you’re someone who values quiet beauty, heartfelt spaces, and intentional living, then I truly can’t recommend this little gem enough.
